With 2018 now well in the rearview mirror, breweries are greeting the winter months with a variety of intoxicating cold-weather offerings…And we’ve several new craft beer directions that you’ll want to chase down.
Firestone Walker’s Haze Play (Paso Robles, CA) – After nearly a year of experimentation, Firestone Walker is ready to enter the ‘hazy IPA’ arena. Inspired as much by the legendary Bavarian Hefeweizens of southeastern Germany as it was America’s fast-evolving juicy IPAs, Firestone Walker Mind Haze IPA, is the latest addition to the brewery’s already hefty hoppy portfolio. (6.2% ABV)
Lakefront’s Haze Play (Milwaukee, WI) – Lakefront Brewery’s latest addition to its year-round offerings is another ‘haze play’ that demands your attention. Brewed with a juicy abundance of Cascade, Idaho 7, Mosaic, Citra, Denali and Azacca hops, Lakefront Hazy Rabbit is a 5.6% ABV Hazy/Juicy/New England (you choose) India Pale Ale pumped with tropical flavors and set to debut on February 1st.
A Call To Arms (Denver, CO) – Founded in 2015 in the Berkeley neighborhood of northwest Denver, Call to Arms Brewing has built a HUGE reputation for its blended sours and wild ales, over the years. And on February 1st they’ll be debuting a beer ‘that they’ve never been more excited about.” Reminiscent of farm stand blackberry jam and deep magenta hued, Majestic Wolf Lamp is an 8% ABV oak-aged blended Belgian Sour with blackcurrants which pays homage to the wolf lamp scene in the Step Brothers movie.
Double Barrel-Aged (Longmont, CA) – Oskar Blues and Cigar City have announced the release of an innovative new collaboration beer that’s the bastard love child of two giant craft beer personalities – Oskar Blues’ Head of Brewing Operations, Tim Matthews, and Cigar City’s Brewmaster Wayne Wambles.
Brewed with the goal to marry the character of an aged stout, and Amburana, an indigenous South American wood that imparts unique savory flavors and aromatic, Oskar Blues/Cigar City Bamburana is a MASSIVE Imperial Stout aged in both whiskey and brandy barrels with Amburana wood spirals and fig and date flavors.
