(The Original 40 Brewing Company)
Spring is just around the corner and American brewers are addressing things with a whole new roster of beers that you’re gonna want to have around as the seasons change.
New Hire, New Beer (San Diego, CA) – The Original 40 Brewing Company’s new Head Brewer Kyle Fjalstad, who honed his skills at Modern Times Beer as its barrel-program manager, has released his first beer at the new abode. Unashamedly hop forward but with minimal maltiness, Original 40 Wired Fences is a 6.4% ABV West-Coast Style IPA with distinct pineapple, guava, and lemon-lime notes.
“As you take a sip, you should feel the electric, hop-driven zing that makes this beer a true standout,” Fjalstad said. “It’s all systems go for me and my team here in North Park. There’s never a bad time to enjoy a West Coast IPA, especially in San Diego and especially with spring upon us.”
Fjalstad, who is of Norwegian heritage, started home brewing in 2010 at the age of 24 after his time at San Diego State and earning a Professional Certificate in Brewing from UC San Diego Extended Studies. He won two medals at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival, the nation’s largest professional brewing competition commonly referred to as “The Oscars” of the craft beer industry.
Cherry Oh! (Newport, OR) – Rogue Ales & Spirits is celebrating the grand opening of Rogue’s Salem Public House with something special release that embraces the region’s rich farming heritage, world-class produce, and renowned cherry orchards.
An uber-balanced blend of tart and sweet cherry flavors, complemented by citrusy hop notes and a smooth malt finish, Rogue Cherry Wheat Ale is a vibrant 6.4% ABV Wheat Ale crafted to capture the essence of the valley’s iconic stone fruit.
Brewed using 2row, wheat, and caramel steam malts, as well as Belma and Experimental 102 hops, Rogue’s new limited release offers a unique take on the classic wheat ale. The addition of the local cherry juice concentrate enhances the beer’s crisp, refreshing profile, creating a distinct and flavorful homage to Willamette Valley’s famous cherries.
Rogue’s new Cherry Wheat Ale will be available to the public to try during Salem Public House’s grand opening on March 15, 2025.
