Seed Of The Universe (Brooklyn, NY) -Brooklyn Brewery is expanding its core portfolio with the nationwide launch of the award-winning beer which is made with a very special grain that some call the “Seed of the Universe.”
Brewed with a blend of two-row pale malt and fonio, the ancient, climate-resistant West African grain that Brewmaster Garrett Oliver has made his mission to promote, Fonio Rising is fresh and fruity 5% ABV Pale Ale that’s dry-hopped with Strata and Citra.
“Fonio grows in near-desert conditions without chemicals, tilling, or irrigation, while supporting thousands of smallholder farmers,” Oliver said. “With Fonio Rising Pale Ale joining our core lineup, African-grown fonio is finally reaching the mainstream—not just as a sustainable and socially impactful crop, but as an ingredient that makes great tasting beer.”

Historic (Salt Lake City, UT) – Kiitos Brewing has announced the release of the United States’ first 100% Fonio beer which was crafted using the brewery’s unique Mash Press, a one-of-a-kind brewing system designed for precision and efficiency. Crafted entirely from Fonio, an ancient grain hailing from West Africa, Kiitos Fonio Beer is gluten-free 5% ABV limited release brewed with little to no hops which helps explain it’s almost vodka-like clarity.
