San Antonio is not a great beer town, but The Friendly Spot is an oasis serving 180 beers from around the country. They have a big outdoor screen and the night I was there they had Steve Martin’s “The Jerk” playing so the mood was definitely light and friendly. I tried a disappointing Texas IPA, but settle into an excellent black double IPA from Clown Shoes. It’s worth the walk to escape from the Riverwalk.
