September 7 is National Beer Lovers Day and we got to admit we couldn’t care less.
Didn’t we just have National Beer Day a couple of weeks ago?
At what point do we just admit it…that this whole special beer day thing has gotten out of hand?
Can we all get honest for a minute and call these specially branded beer days for what they are nowadays? Nothing more than socially endorsed content-generating marketing vehicles. And National Beer Lovers Day were looking at you.
And yes, you can call bullshit on us here at American Craft Beer. You wouldn’t be the first.
Because even though we did finally stop hyping IPA Day…we’re as guilty as anyone having already shamelessly promoted questionable “beer days” like International Gruit Day, National Lager Day, National Beer Day, and even National Bock Beer Day!
But with beer news in the late summer doldrums, we once again find ourselves needlessly flacking another ‘useless’ beer day and scrambling to make National Beer Lovers Day seem important enough for you to even care…
At least International Beer Day has an official website…
That makes it appear marginally more relevant than Barrel Aged Beer Day which was basically a Facebook announcement that only had the support of The Bruery and Bruery Terreux, both wonderful brewing operations, but still…
And the purpose of National Beer Lovers Day is as simplistic as every one of these “beer days” – They want you to drink beer, and celebrate that you happen to like it. Look at you! You love beer! Pure genius…
So here’s to you, National Beer Lovers Day. It’s as good a reason to start drinking early as any, but we can’t promise you that we’ll be hyping it next year.
Because all these “National Beer Days” are well past ringing hollow…haven’t we celebrated enough of them to put the whole thing to rest?
Or maybe it’s time for a National Rehab Day….just sayin’.
