Pliny Says Goodbye

“I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.” This famous Obi Wan quote seems more apropos in Washington now that Pliny the Elder is bowing out of distribution to the state.

Stating growing demand, capped capacity, and being “beholden to over 20 investors” Russian River Brewing sent a letter to all of their Washington State wholesalers through Click Distribution detailing the reasons they would be cancelling distribution to the Evergreen state (see the letter below).

Look, we aren’t going to lie to you, this is a big deal. Pliny the Elder is loved and revered by a lot of drinkers in the lucky areas that are able to get it. But now, one of the country’s biggest beer drinking markets is going dry.

As Han said: “One thing’s for sure, we’re all gonna be a lot thinner.”
