Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For – June 20, 2013
So many beers, So little time…With so many craft breweries, releasing so many beers, we thought it might help to provide a weekly update on all the new beers that are hitting the streets…So welcome to this week’s edition of Newbies – your guide to great new craft beer releases!

Clusters Last Stand(Portsmouth, NH) – Smuttynose Brewing Company has announced a partnership with San Diego’s Stone Brewing Co. for the New Hampshire brewer’s first collaboration brew. Cluster’s Last Stand takes its name from the “Cluster,” once the king of American-grown hops, and is a limited release recreation of the legendary Ballantine IPA, complete with the original retro hop varieties. “Cluster’s Last Stand is a tribute to the original American IPAs and the hops that made them great,” said Smuttynose Director of Brewing Operations David Yarrington. “While the name started out as a way to lampoon a hop variety whose moment had passed, we realized that working with Stone, and particularly in the wake of Brewmaster Mitch Steele’s book (IPA: Brewing Techniques, Recipes and the Evolution of India Pale Ale) that this was the perfect way to create a serious tribute to the earliest American IPAs and to showcase some important, but forgotten hops that many ‘aficionados’ find passé in 2013.”

Daredevil Goes on Vacation (Shelbyville, IN) – Daredevil Brewing Co., the makers of Lift Off IPA, have announced the release of their newest limited edition beer. Daredevil Vacation Kölsch is a 5.0% ABV limited release that coincides perfectly with the brewery’s summer holiday week and will be available on draft in central and southern Indiana beginning next Monday, June 24.
