So many beers, So little time…With so many craft breweries, releasing so many beers, we thought it might help to provide a weekly update on all the new beers that are hitting the streets…So welcome to this week’s edition of Newbies – your guide to great new craft beer releases!

Who’s Up for An Oklahoma Beercation? (Tulsa, OK) – Prairie Artisan Ales is helping to put Oklahoma on the national beer map – and the brewery has yet to open! When the Tulsa-based brewery does finally open its doors, its first release will be Prairie Weiss, a sour wheat beer. But you’ll have to travel to Oklahoma to get it – the 750 ml bottles will be limited release and will only see local distribution.

Everyone Loves A Circus (Longmont, CO) – For those of you not following along with James Watt and Martin Dickie’s national beer-making adventures on Brew Dogs, then that’s your first assignment. If you’re already a fan, then you’ll want to seek out their new collaboration beer with Oskar Blues, Shipwrecked Circus Barley Wine. Clocking in at 10.5% ABV, this boozy beauty is made “for people who enjoy nonsense and walking on tightropes.” If that sounds like you, then check out BrewDog’s shop to purchase a bottle or three.

Black Tuesday is the New Black (Placentia, CA) – One of the highest rated beers in the world will be available once again for limited purchase on October 29. The Bruery’s Black Tuesday, its 19.2% ABV bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout, will be sold via their website with a three bottle-per-person limit. Another caveat – The Bruery doesn’t ship outside of California, so those of you who are out-of-state will have to do a little more legwork to snag some. But if you want it, we recommend you act quickly once the link is live – last year’s vintage sold out in an hour.

The Hops of Their Labor (Berkeley, CA) – Last year, the City of Oakland approached Bison Organic Beer about growing hops in various community gardens throughout the city. Their efforts clearly paid off, as this year’s harvest yielded nearly 30 pounds of fresh Cascade hops. To celebrate the Oakland hop harvest, Bison is adding the fresh local hops to a special 15 bbl batch of its Hop Cuvée, a West Coast-style pale ale. Dubbed the Oakland Hop Harvest Ale, this special release will only be available on draft at restaurants and bars in the Bay Area. Bison will be tapping Hop Harvest on Saturday, November 9, at the Hops ‘N Harvest Benefit at the Peoples Victory Garden in Oakland.

New Belgium Expects Some Accumulation This Winter (Fort Collins, CO) – As the first snow starts to fall in Colorado, thoughts of “accumulation” are in the air. To celebrate winter’s coming, New Belgium Brewing has released Accumulation White IPA, a 6.2% ABV winter seasonal that shares the unfiltered look of a wheat beer, but drinks like an American IPA.

A Warming Winter Wheat (Downingtown, PA) – Brewed to fuel “festive times and chase winter’s chill,” Victory Brewing’s new Winter Cheers Wheat Ale is a refreshing departure from some of the heavier winter warmers appearing around this time of year. A distinct twist on a traditional beer style, this spiced wheat takes the expected notes of banana, clove, and citrus up a notch with the addition of Citra hops for aroma, Tettnang hops for bittering, and loads of unmalted wheat, barley, & oats. Don’t get left out in the cold – grab this refreshing 6.7% ABV warmer now in 6-packs.
