The seasons are changing, and American craft brewers are looking to fall with an ever-evolving roster of beverages (big and small) you’re gonna want to have around.
Prost! (Hershey, PA) – Pennsylvania has a rich German heritage, so it shouldn’t surprise that Tröegs Independent Brewing makes one of the best Oktoberfest beers in the nation. Part of the brewery’s popular Long Live Lagers Series and crafted using a traditional brewing technique called decoction, Tröegs Oktoberfest Lager is a 6.1% ABV seasonal release with bright notes of sweet caramel, fresh-baked bread, and flowering herbs.
“It’s one of our simplest recipes and only uses two types of malt,” said brewmaster and co-founding brother, John Trogner. “It starts with a base of pilsner malt, then we add a touch of Munich to impart a bready flavor. By boiling a portion of the mash, we create a bright, dry maltiness. The yield is a rich, complex malt character.”
Bigger, Hazier, Juicier Than Ever! (Chico, CA) – Sierra Nevada Brewing has relaunched a classic that was first introduced in 2021, this time with a bigger, hazier and juicier profile, the kind of IPA that can weather the cold.
Crafted with a smart mix of Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado hops Sierra Nevada’s re-envisioned Big Little Thing IPA is a 9.5% ABV Hazy India Pale Ale that builds upon everything that was great about original, amps up the octane and softens the mouthfeel.
“We experimented with several Hazy Imperial IPA recipes, but when I tried this one, I was truly impressed,” said Brian Grossman, Chief Brewer and second-generation owner of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
“It’s packed with flavor and has a smooth, pillowy texture at 9.5% ABV, without being overly sweet. It’s a great option for Hazy IPA lovers looking to take their experience to a different level.”
Cold-Hearted (Cleveland, OH) – Tapping into a growing movement towards simpler and more approachable beer Great Lakes Brewing has introduced a welcome addition to its award-winning roster. Clocking in at 100 calories, and 6 grams carbs, Great Lakes Cold Rush is a 4% ABV refresher with an ageless retro-look that arrives at retail in mid-August (so soon!).
Cold Rush rounds out our portfolio,” said Interim Co-CEO Chris Brown. ““Lagers are riding a wave of popularity. And now we cover the whole spectrum from the domestic drinker to the fruit-forward fans, to double IPA and barrel aged lovers.”
