It’s Oktoberfest season, and American craft brewers are looking to fall with an ever-evolving roster of beverages you’re gonna want to have around.
An Oktoberfest Best! (Shiner, TX) – When one thinks Oktoberfest beers, the mind doesn’t automatically wander to a small town in Texas – but it should because the brewing team at the Spoetzl Brewery, which was founded in 1919 by a German immigrant, brews one of the best around.
A Great American Beer Festival winner in 2012 that is still crafted with the finest German-grown Hallertau Tradition and Hersbrucker hops as well as a deft combination of two-row barley, Munich and caramel malts, Shiner Oktoberfest is a 5.7% ABV Märzen-Style Lager with a rich malty aroma, and a caramel sweetness that gives way to a dry, hoppy finish.
Wicked Ways (Asheville, NC) – One of our favorite breweries, Wicked Weed Brewing is very much on the comeback trail after the devastating floods that brought Ashville to its knees last October. And although the brewery is renowned for its Sour Beer production, they also brew a terrific Witbier that’s an ACB staple.
Crafted with our unique blend of Curaçao orange peel and coriander, Wicked Weed Twist is a light-bodied 5.2% ABV Belgian Style White Ale with fresh notes of oranges, flora, pomme and peppery spice that give way to a crispy dry finish.
Designated Drinking (Sausalito, CA) – With more craft breweries than ever before, brewing serious non-alcoholic beer, ACB has expanded our coverage to include new NA beers that matter. And Oskar Blues Brewery has stepped into the arena, with a very convincing lager.
Billed by the brewery as the “realest fake beer ever, Designated Dale’s NA Pils is a crisp and floral buzz-free Pilsner made with the highest standards and the lowest ABV.
