August is ON! And American craft brewers are addressing the warm weather with interesting beer offerings you’re gonna want to have around.
Oktoberfest Comes Early (San Diego, CA) – AleSmith Brewing is returning its take on the original German-style, amber lager which emerged in Germany and Austria hundreds of years ago…a beer that was made famous for being served at Munich’s Oktoberfest celebration starting in 1872. Available in 6-packs of 12-oz. cans, AleSchmidt Oktoberfest is a 5.5% ABV Märzen Lager with a fresh, polished ambience and rich malt character.
Slightly Sour (Chico, CA) – Most sours are brewed the traditional way, with wooden barrels and lots of time, but Sierra Nevada Brewing crafts a tasty year-round kettle sour that’s complicated brewing made easy. Brewed with guava, hibiscus and strawberries, Sierra Nevada Wild Little Thing is a 5.5% ABV Sour Ale with a light tartness that doesn’t overpower its bright fruit tones.
A Haze High (Columbus, OH) – BrewDog USA is continuing to do some very cool things. Like its flagship New England IPA, uniquely brewed in Ohio, that’s currently also available as part of its Summer Mixed Pack. Crafted with oats and wheat and dry-hopped for a full-tilt fruit blast, BrewDog Hazy Jane is a 7.2% ABV juice-bomb that is low on bitterness, high on haze and hopped out of its mind.
A Century In The Making (Richmond, CA) – Founded by two friends, East Brother Beer Co. is a San Francisco Bay area brewery which excels at brewing classic styles. And they’ve a Lager Series release with a recipe that’s a homage to beers from the Prohibition era. An ode to the beginnings of American beer traditions, East Brother Pre-Pro Lager is a 5.5% ABV refresher with a crisp, Cluster hop presence, subtle corn and barley tones and an uber-clean finish.
