Oktoberfest Southern Style (Richmond, VA) – The 47th annual Richmond Oktoberfest returns to the Old Dominion Building at the Richmond International Raceway this weekend and you don’t want to miss it. This two evening celebration (Oct 16th-17th) is Virginia’s largest German / American Oktoberfest festival and it draws crowds from all over the world. Expect a full array of German Foods including essentials like bratwurst, knockwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels, and of course, potato pancakes. And, yes, there will be bier! On The Big Screen – Two big movies from two big-time directors are opening this weekend and they couldn’t be more different. Stephen Spielberg’s cold war drama, Bridge Of Spies, stars Tom Hanks as an American lawyer is recruited by the CIA to help rescue a pilot detained in the Soviet Union. And Guillermo del Toro takes on the haunted house classics in Crimson Peak, an audacious supernatural Victorian era thriller. Mia Wasikowska stars as an aspiring young author who falls for a mysterious outsider (Tom Hiddleston) and ends up in the world’s spookiest mansion.
Big Sky Big Beer (Missoula, MT) – The Montana Brewers Association will be presenting their 7th annual Fall Brewers Festival this weekend and it’s going to be awesome. This one-day (Oct 16th) afternoon/evening beerganza will feature an exciting All-Montana lineup of craft beers, artisan food and non-stop music in a beautiful open-air park, setting so you don’t want to miss that! TV Time – One of television’s most brilliant apocalyptic drama’s returned for its sixth season last week and if you’ve not yet starting watching AMC’s The Walking Dead, we’re pissed at you. Now in its sixth season this dark meditation on zombies and the morality of survival has never been smarter or more frightening.
