So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…
Want Big Beers, Belgians and Barleywines? (Vail, CO) – Then we’ve got something that you’ll want to hit this weekend and its taking place at the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa. The 15th annual Big Beers, Belgians and Barleywines Festival is three days (Jan 9th–11th) of serious drinking. This year’s event will feature over 200 enormous beers from all around the world. There will also be all kinds of industry reps on hand to chat up their beers and keep your buzz on. The Big Beers Fest in Vail is one of Sam Calagione’s (Dogfish Head) favorite beer festivals and that should be reason enough for you to go. On The Big Screen – Early January is a traditional dumping ground for Hollywood’s more questionable projects and Taken 3 is certainly that. Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, an ex-government operative accused of a ruthless murder he never committed (aren’t they all?). As he is tracked and pursued, the 55+ Mills uses his particular set of CIA-derived skills to find the true killer and clear his name (at least till Taken 4).
A Beer Festival That’s Ready to Wow! (Plainfield, IL) – At a conventional craft beer event, attendees might get one or two chances to sample a beer that’s never been poured before. Nevin’s Brewing Company and Ale to the Burbs, an alliance of suburban craft beer writers and event coordinators, have organized a festival created especially for those of you who are always searching for the newest brew. The OneDer Beers Festival is happening this Saturday (January 10th), from 2–5 p.m. Nevin’s (12337 South Route 59 in Plainfield, Illinois) will host nearly 30 breweries, each offering samples that have never been tasted by the general public. For $35, attendees will receive 20 three oz. pours and a commemorative pint glass, so that’s pretty cool too. To purchase tickets, you need to check out: OneDer Fest 2015
