The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – January 4, 2013

Hey it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend. With the holidays just behind us and having just dodged the “End of Times” as predicted by the Mayan calendar, you clearly need a break! So if you’re up for some ideas, we’ve got them. We’re all about the fun and we’ve got you covered. Plus we’ve got some special weekend beer picks for you too!

So welcome to this week’s edition of Weekend Picks!

We are still experiencing the post-holiday dearth of beer festivals but there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Last week there were no, (repeat no!) beer festivals taking place any place, anywhere. This week, things are opening up a little yet we’ve only one beer festival to bring your way and you’re going to have to fly to England to enjoy it. The Frodsham Winter Ales Festival is taking place today and tomorrow (January 4th– 5th) in the winter wonderland that is Frodsham, , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – January 4, 2013England. There will be over 60 beers, many of them winter warmers, available on “hand pull” and also in cask. There’s a movie that we know you’ve all been waiting for and it’s opening this weekend so you can finally relax! Texas Chainsaw 3-D has just been released and now all of Leatherface’s carnage is once again being big-screened. C’mon, you’ve been dying for this! Decapitations won’t just happen – they’ll explode into the audience! With this new special 3-D, heads will literally be rolling down aisles and blood splattering onto your face. And who doesn’t want that!

If your taste in music leans towards electronica and you’re in the mood to leave winter behind – we’ve got an idea for you. The BPM Festival 2013 is kicking off this weekend in beautiful Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. The BPM Festival is an annual world-class electronic music festival held at the beginning of the calendar year. Originally conceived as an elite dance music industry-networking event, the festival has grown into an international mélange of electronic music lovers, DJs, producers, and party professionals and it sounds like a wicked good time. Are You Ready For Some Football? Even if your team didn’t make it to the playoffs this year, there’s going to be a lot of good football games being played over the weekend! On Saturday, the Bengals will take on the Texans in Houston at 4:30 (EST) and the Vikings will be in Green Bay for a shootout that starts at 8 pm (EST). On Sunday, the Colts take on the Ravens in Baltimore at 1 pm (EST) and the Seahawks will travel to Washington to take on the Redskins at 4 pm.
