The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – October 15, 2014
Hey it’s Wednesday and that means it’s Rumor Mill Time… Missouri’s been making some large waves in the beer scene that few saw coming! We’ll get into that and on to other things that are breaking right now in the world of craft beer. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately.
We don’t sleep so you can….THIS WEEK’S RUMOR MILL IS ON!

“Show Me State” Makes Big Craft Beer Moves (Saint Louis, MO) – The state of Missouri is showing some real craft beer chops lately and we’re happy for them. In 2013, craft brewers added $612.4 million to the state’s economy – producing nearly 300,000 barrels of beer – making the “Show Me State” the 13th largest craft beer maker in the US.

Oktoberfest in South America – Who Knew? (Blumenau, Brazil) – Who knew that the biggest Oktoberfest festival outside of Germany is taking place all this month in South America? From October 8 through 21, travelers can flock to Brazil from all around the world to grab a “chopp” or “mug” full of Brazilian “chope” or “beer” and experience Oktoberfest in Blumenau, an Oktoberfest that scales just south of Munich’s fest.
What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all of the American craft breweries who have shared their wares with us in the past and those of you who have shipped us beer from time to time. It’s great to be able to sample the brews that we write about and it helps us have a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night, we opened the newest release from Flying Dog’s always interesting Single Hop Imperial IPA Series. Both aggressive and citrusy, Flying Dog’s Single Hop Imperial IPA with Galaxy showcases a legendary hop that’s grown solely in Australia – and at 10% ABV, it’s an enjoyable ride.
