The American Craft Beer 2012 Holiday Shopping Guide – Part 1

With the holidays just around the corner, we thought it might be a good time to highlight some of this season’s more interesting craft beer gift ideas for the beer lover on your list. So we turned to our American Craft Beer correspondents for suggestions and we got so many great ideas back that we were forced to divide our guide into two parts this year.

So welcome to Part 1 of this year’s Holiday Shopping Guide….

Tim Ho works with us out of Atlanta. He’s a mess and a whole lot of fun. He’s also a pretty decent homebrewer so we weren’t surprised when he sent us a link to Midwest Homebrewing and Winemaking Supplies and it looks serious! If you don’t brew yourself, you might need the person that you’re buying for to get really specific as to what they might need. Tim was especially excited about their Thermo Mash tuns, their false bottoms, home mills, and counter current hose coolers (as if we have a clue as to what any of those things are), and is beyond geeked about this site.

, The American Craft Beer 2012 Holiday Shopping Guide – Part 1Jeff Chenault is our creative director based out of Baltimore. He comes to us from the music industry, has done graphics for some very big name artists, and is a big part of why we look so good. We think that’s one of the reasons that Jeff sent us a link to Duffy’s Brew. It’s all about looking good too. You see, Duffy’s Brew makes craft beer shampoo and conditioner! Their site is a trip and you’ve got to check it out.

Zach Mack, our NYC correspondent, likes the simplicity of Brooklyn BrewShop.com’s online approach to shopping for homebrewing supplies. He explains that they make the art of brewing both accessible and understandable and that they’re a great place to start for anyone who’s new to the process. The site itself is easy to navigate and they sell everything you’ll need to get going!

Lindsay Snyder is our newest correspondent. She’s based in Madison, Wisconsin, and like any Midwesterner, she understands that in order to enjoy your craft beer all winter long, you’ve got to be prepared. And that’s where the original Sküüzi™ comes in. Sküüzi™ is the brand name for a Scandinavian beer holder/glove that’s made from sheep hair and functions to keep your hands warm while drinking beer on the frozen tundra. We think this video clarifies things perfectly.

DC Steve is based in the nation’s capital. He’s actually a legitimate reporter/journalist for a major publication that will necessarily go unnamed, as all hell would break loose if his organization ever found out that he was slumming with us! DC Steve is also a gadget guy and he’s psyched about the GrOpener – a bottle opener like none you’ve ever seen. Its unique design allows you to open your beer bottle with only one hand. Just think, with GrOpener you’ll now be able to keep your arm around the person you’re making moves on and open your beer at the same time! You’ve got to check out the video.
