Pint Craft, The Craft Beer Drinking Game

, Pint Craft, The Craft Beer Drinking Game

Everyone likes a good drinking game, but most can agree that craft brews are not necessarily the smartest choice for hours of beer pong, flip cup, and waterfall. However, before you sigh heavily and reach for that can of carbonated swill, stop and read this article! Christmas is here, craft beer aficionados, and it comes in the form of Pint Craft. This craft beer card game, the brainchild of Ann Arbor entrepreneur Nick Helmholdt, will revolutionize the way you and your fellow craft beer fanatics compete.

, Pint Craft, The Craft Beer Drinking GamePint Craft is a card game aimed at craft beer enthusiasts and casual gamers, according to the game’s page on Kickstarter.com. In this game, you take on the role of a microbrewer as you compete to brew unique styles of beer and expand your brewery’s operations. In addition to 25 recipe cards, the game includes ingredient tokens for base malt, specialty malt, hops, and adjuncts. It also contains brewery cards, which identify events within the game that boost the player’s success, such as a beer festival, or help players improve their distribution, such as a distribution license.

Helmholdt developed the idea for the game while “slightly hungover” on January 1st of this year. He and his wife had spent the prior evening celebrating the New Year by drinking and playing games with friends. While reminiscing on the previous evening’s festivities, Helmholdt realized that what would have made the Arbor Brewing Company growler he and his friends shared even tastier was a game about beer. Thus emerged Pint Craft.

, Pint Craft, The Craft Beer Drinking GameAfter five pre-release versions of the game, Helmholdt took the game to Kickstarter.com, an all-or-nothing funding platform for creative projects, to raise funds for mass production. He exceeded his goal of $12,000 thanks to the support of gaming geeks and the craft beer community, who he says provided the majority of support for the project. The game is now in the final stages of art and design editing and will be printed at Blue Panther LLC in California. Over 500 copies of the game have been ordered via Kickstarter, and after these have been sent to the donors Nick plans to distribute the game to – what else? – game stores and craft beer shops. You may also find the game sold at your favorite brewery in the next year, as a few breweries pledged to the Kickstarter project along with the other gamers and craft beer supporters.
