Small Brewery Sunday Makes Post-Thanksgiving Return

Small Brewery Sunday Makes Post-Thanksgiving Return

|November 4th, 2021|

With COVID-19 waning and the craft beer biz still adjusting to a post-pandemic world, this one day celebration on November 28, couldn’t come at a more important time…

Introduced on 2019 by the Boulder, Colorado-based, not-for-profit trade organization the Brewers Association, this campaign encourages beer fans to celebrate on the Sunday after Thanksgiving and support local breweries, brewpubs, and taprooms, on that day in particular, and throughout the holidays.

Similar in concept to American Craft Beer Week, which was launched by the BA in 2006, Small Brewery Sunday is especially significant this year, given the insecure and uncertain futures of the nation’s small businesses still impacted economically by the year from hell and a wary public trying to adjust to an almost post-pandemic landscape.

“It’s crucial for beer lovers to support their local brewery, taproom, or brewpub throughout these next few critical months and beyond,” said Bob Pease, president and CEO, Brewers Association. “As shoppers support local independent businesses, what better place than your local craft brewery? Six packs, gift cards, or merchandise all make great gifts and every little bit helps.”

Of course the Brewers Association hopes that the November 28 celebration will become a more frequent occasion, especially during the winter holidays.

“Nothing goes better with a holiday meal than independent craft beer,” said Ann Obenchain, marketing director, Brewers Association….

“Whether you are able to safely visit a brewery, taproom, or brewpub, or opt for curbside pickup or at-home delivery, one of the best ways to support your local economy and brewery during the holiday season is by giving the gift of craft beer and serving craft beer at the dinner table.”

The third annual Small Brewery Sunday calls on beer lovers to celebrate the positive impact that local breweries have on our communities. Because small and independent craft breweries provide jobs, give us places to gather with friends and family, and keep our glasses full of serious craft beer.

America’s nearly 8,000 small independent breweries deserve your support more than ever…And we all need to step up.
