Serious Beer Alert: Hibiscus Saisons And Pumpkin Ales

August is ON! And American craft brewers are addressing the warm weather with interesting beer offerings you’re gonna want to have around.

Serious Saison (Pittsburgh, PA) – American Craft Beer was recently invited to Pittsburgh to cover its impressive craft beer scene. And we spent an early afternoon drinking beer with Dave Kushner, the Founder of Trace Brewing and Aadam Soorma, Head of Marketing for the brewery and they sent us home with a serious saison that’s worth making a trip to “Steel City” for.

With elegant deep red tones that give way to the beer’s light body and subtle character, Trace Red Petals is a 5.2% ABV American Saison with hibiscus added during fermentation.

A Beer To “Fall” For (Boston, MA) – In 2020 Boston Beer released a brand new take on the pumpkin ale that’s available now on draft and in 12oz bottles, as well as in the Samuel Adams Sweater Weather Variety Pack. Samuel Adams Jack-O is an approachable 4.4% ABV Pumpkin Ale that deftly balances seasonal spicing with a bright malt backbone.

Germany’s #1 Oktoberfest Bier (White Plains, NY) – Brewed just once a year and only available while supplies last, this is the beer that would be offered in the Paulaner tent in Munich. Red Head (Richmond, CA) – East Brother Beer Co. is a San Francisco Bay area brewery which was founded by two friends and excels at brewing classic styles. And they’ve a year-round that falls somewhere between an Amber Ale and an American IPA. Melding the bright ambience of the American IPA with the richness of a traditional amber ale, East Brother Red IPA is a 6.5% ABV India Pale Ale with a sturdy malt-backbone and a hefty stone fruit hop character.
