Hi-Wire Brewing continues its ferocious expansion and the alternative-metal band, Deftones are back with a new album and yet another beer.
No Place Like Ohm
On February 1, California-based, alternative-metal band, Deftones, who have sold more than 10 million albums over their 13 years of rockin’, will release their latest collaboration effort with San Diego’s Belching Beaver Brewery.
Now five years and several collaborations deep into working together, Belching Beaver and Deftones continue their partnership, with their latest release Ohms Pale Ale. Named after the band’s recent album, Ohms is a 5.5% ABV Pale Ale that the band and brewery describe as “hands down, one of the best thirst-quenching and flavorful beers we’ve ever brewed for you all.”
“Ohms continues our exploration in diverse flavor profiles across our collection of beers,” said Chino Moreno, Lead Vocalist of Deftones. “The Belching Beaver team is constantly looking to elevate and evolve – a philosophy that we practice in all aspects of Deftones.” “We’re really excited for everyone to try the newest addition to the family.”
Each Deftones/Belching collaboration has had a unique recipe and style. Past releases included a double-dry hopped IPA (White Pony), Mexican-Style Lager (Dia De Los Deftones), and a Brown ale (Good Morning Beautiful) just to name a few. Ohms is the brewery and band’s first Pale Ale collaboration.

Hi-Wire Brewing Plans Louisville Taproom
At a time when many American breweries are hunkering down to better weather the economic impact brought on by COVID-19, Asheville, NC-based Hi-Wire Brewing is planning its sixth taproom, this time in Louisville, Kentucky.
Hi-Wire Brewing currently has four retail taprooms in North Carolina and a fifth in Tennessee, and the brewery’s distribution area has grown to nine states since opening in 2013 with the expansion to Virginia and Indiana in 2020.
“Taprooms are a core revenue stream for our company, especially given our current climate, says Hi-Wire Brewing co-owner Bryna Frosaker. “They create brand ambassadors in those markets. They create jobs and increase wholesale sales in the region.”
Located in the city’s trendy Highlands neighborhood, Hi-Wire Brewing Louisville’s new 5500-square-foot taproom will feature a colorful 360-degree interior mural, a bar with twenty-one taps and a variety of family-friendly activities including soccer pool, table tennis, foosball, and shuffleboard.
