The whole marijuana beer thing is accelerating…And now Province Brands of Canada, the Canadian company that hopes to the world’s first beers brewed from the cannabis plant, has announced a licensing agreement with Brock Street Brewing, an award-winning Ontario craft brewery.

Here’s’ the deal…

The agreement allows Brock Street Brewing Company to license Province Brands of Canada’s patent-pending technology to launch two new beers under Brock Street Brewing Company.

Similar to new Belgian’s The Hemperor he first will be an alcohol beer brewed from hemp that will deliver an alcohol buzz as oppose to a pot high.

The second beer will forgo alcohol and deliver a THC high. That beer will be brewed at the cannabis producer’s facility once the manufacture and sale of such products are legalized in Canada, which is expected to happen sometime next year.

Mark Woitzik, the Co-Founder of Brock Street Brewing was understandably ‘buzzed’ about the new partnership….

“We are so excited to partner with Province Brands to perfect innovative craft beers at our new state-of-the-art brewery in downtown Whitby. Over the next year these new beers will be brewed from hemp using Province Brands’ unique technology, and we look forward to incorporating craft beers brewed from marijuana into our product lineup once legal.”

Brock Street Brewing’s new alcohol beer, will tap into Province Brands’ patent-pending process to mash hemp stalks and stems at Province’s facility.  The mashed material will then be shipped to Whitby, Ontario where Brock Street Brewing will take over and craft and distribute the final product as they would any beer in their portfolio.

Dooma Wendschuh the CEO and Co-Founder of Province Brands was also pretty ‘high’ about the new arrangement…

Expect more of these co-packing arrangements in the near future as we open our 123,000 square foot facility in Grimsby, Ontario.”

Once the market opens up for legal marijuana beverages, Province Brands of Canada will brew, bottle and distribute Brock Street beer that delivers a pot buzz. Brock Street will provide the recipes for this beer as well and work closely with Province Brands’ master brewer, Rob Kevwitch to modify recipes for a nonalcoholic beer.
