Newbies – 5 New Craft Beers You Need To Check Out
So many beers- So little time… Winter is undeniably here, and with it the beers of the season. And we’ve a number of interesting new offerings that you’ll want to chase down…We’ve also an interesting collaboration from Perennial Artisan Ales and The Commons that sounds pretty serious as well.
Cannon Cannon (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer will soon be returning a popular seasonal that’s not shy about its hops. Heavy Seas Double Cannon is a massively hopped 9.5% ABV Double IPA balanced upon a sturdy, almost European-style, malt backbone.
Fair Weather Friends (St Louis, MO) – Perennial Artisan Ales have brewed up something special with their friends at The Commons that’s a collaborative take on a Belgian classic. Brewed using special yeast strains from both breweries in a 50/50 blend for fermentation, Perennial’s Meriwether is a 5.5% ABV Farmhouse Saison that’s dry-hopped and bottle-conditioned.
Blonde Ambition (Paso Robles, CA) – Barrelhouse Brewing recently shipped something special they did – and we thank them for that, Now in its second vintage, Barrelhouse Apricot Blonde Sour is a 6.7% ABV tart and fruity ale that’s brewed with fresh apricots and 100% fermented in California wine barrels.
Conventions Be Damned! (Portland, OR) – In a city known for its brewing, Portland Brewing is staking its claim on “a road less taken.” Portland Brewing’s Raise the Roost is a spicy and fruity 6.7% Belgian-style Red Ale that they contend, defies convention – and it’s rolling out now.
An Arriving Departure (Kent, WA) – It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Airways Brewing. We did a collaboration beer with them in 2013, and recently got our hands on something special from them. Billed as a collaboration with both Eureka Restaurants and the Dry Fly Distillery – Airways 2015 Final Departure is a 9.3% barrel-aged Imperial Stout that’s perfect for celebration or just cellaring.
