New Halloween Sours, Milk Stouts And Fresh Hop Ales

|October 15th, 2019|

October is HERE…And American craft brewers are addressing the season with a variety of interesting new beer offerings that should pair smartly with cooling weather.

Hopped Up (Fort Collins, CO) – Dry-hopping has evolved over the last few years as a way to drastically unlock hop aromas and bring more dimension to American craft beer and Odell Brewing’s latest limited release takes the process to a whole new level. Odell DDH Imperial IPA is an 8.2% ABV India Pale Ale that’s pumped with huge hop aromatics and flavors.

Olé Molé (Paso Robles, CA) – Firestone Walker Brewing has shipped the fourth out of five Proprietor’s Vintage releases slated for 2019, and this one sounds awesome! Inspired by family recipes passed down for generations, Firestone Walker’s Barrel Program Manager Eric Ponce drew upon his own Mexican heritage to create Firestone Walker Molé Merkin a 5.5% ABV Milk Stout with nuanced chocolate notes that play well with the cocoa nibs and cinnamon, and an uber-creamy mouthfeel.

Trick & Treat! (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer has two new taproom-only small batch releases coming out on Friday, October 25th, that are primed for Halloween.

Heavy Seas Trick is a 6.5% ABV sweet and tart Sour Ale that was crafted using only the freshest oranges and dry-hopped out of its mind.

Heavy Seas Treat is a 4.5% ABV Sour Ale with cherries that was brewed as a homage to the sweet & tart candies of Halloween.

Fresh Hopped (Bend, OR) – The Deschutes Brewery is returning a hop harvest fav that captures hops in their purest form direct from the field. Available in 12-ounce bottles in six packs in mid-October, Deschutes Chasin’ Freshies is a clean, crisp 6.7% ABV Fresh Hop IPA that pairs perfectly with the season and captures the candied orange, pine and tropical notes from fresh Simcoe hops.
