New Golden Road Beer Garden In Sacramento Draws Complaints

, New Golden Road Beer Garden In Sacramento Draws ComplaintsAB InBev owned Golden Road Brewing recently opened a new beer garden in Sacramento. The good news is it’s a BIG success. The bad news is that success has led to huge crowds and late night noise that’s angering its neighbors.

Here’s’ the deal…

Golden Road’s new venue in California’s capital city, is no stranger to controversy….And partially because they’re owned by the world’s largest beer company they’ve generated their share of heat from Sacramento’s craft beer community who see them as Big Beer intruders popped down on a barren space in fast gentrifying part of town that used to be home to a City Suds laundromat.

And residents of the upscale high-rise that abuts Golden Road’s new outlet were initially positive as well according to the Sacramento Bee. But that was before it became a magnet for late-night crowds in full-on party mode and the noise level reportedly went to 11.

Although the city is meeting with homeowner associations in an attempt to broker some kind of peace, this problem may have been the city Government’s making to begin with.

But unlike other Sacramento CRAFT beer gardens that close at 10 pm, for some reason “Golden Road stays open until at least midnight Sunday through Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday” according to The Bee.

And that reason may have been a police and government failure according to Vice Mayor Steve Hansen…

“This particular license without conditions is unfair to local craft brewers who have opened beer gardens and are doing the same thing with far more restrictions. It’s out of step with how we handle active businesses like this next to residential neighborhoods. We are investigating to figure out what happened and how to fix it.’

The popular beer garden currently serves only Golden Road beers but it plans to start brewing on-site in the near future.

And “they’ve not received a formal noise violation from the city,” Adam Levoe, Golden Road’s director of restaurant of operations, told the Sacramento Bee.
