Fall is on and American craft brewers are addressing the season with an intriguing roster of beers you’re gonna want to have around.

Beers Made From Scratch (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing is commemorating the milestone of five hundred beers released through the brewery’s Scratch Series with something uber-special. Taking its cue from the brewery’s Perpetual IPA, Tröegs Scratch Series: 500 is a 9.5% ABV IPA that doubles down on everything that made the original the best-selling craft beer in the state of Pennsylvania, and amps its stickier notes of citrus, pine and tropical fruit up to 11.

“One of the ways we share our creative process is through our Scratch Series,” says Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner. “The Scratch Series launched in 2007 to coincide with our 10th anniversary and over the years has served as the springboard for potential seasonal and year-round releases, one of the first being Perpetual IPA.”

The Scratch Series expanded when Tröegs moved its operations from Harrisburg to Hershey with the installation of a 15-barrel brewhouse designed to facilitate smaller batches of beer. It got even more granular in 2020 with the installation of the Scratch Lab, a 3-barrel nano-brewery designed to replicate the temperature controls, pressure, and geometry of Tröegs’ 100-barrel production brewhouse.

Cold-Hearted (Durango, TX) -Ska Brewing combined the best of all the beer worlds in their latest release with something new that’s right on time. Combining what’s best about the Cold IPA and the American Pale Ale, Ska Cold Pale is a crushable 5.5% ABV craft beer hybrid that’s crisp like a lager but with less of that ester-y aroma that’s more commonly associated with ales.

“Pale Ale is my litmus test when I go to a brewery,” says Ska Brewing Co-Founder and CEO Dave Thibodeau, “so when we went to create a mainstay Pale Ale at Ska, we did a lot of research and development to get the hop profile exactly where we wanted it to be. A lot of people appreciate hops but don’t want a super bitter beer, and they also don’t want a 6 to 8% IPA all the time. At Ska we like to have more than one beer in a sitting, so it seemed natural to make something more drinkable.”

Ready, Set, Go (Portland, ME) – With more craft breweries than ever before brewing serious non-alcoholic beer, ACB has expanded its coverage to include new NA beers that matter. And Kit NA, Maine’s first and only exclusively non-alcoholic brewery, matters. Crafted to remove gluten and vegan-friendly, Kit Here We Go is an award-winning Hazy India Pale Ale with BIG juicy tropical notes and a crisp clean backend. And like all Kit NA beers it’s conveniently available via Amazon.
