With Memorial Day now behind us, summer is ON! And American craft brewers are addressing the season with intriguing new offerings you’re gonna want to have around.
Nimble Drinking (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing is returning one of its most anticipated once-a-year releases (second only to its winter holiday Mad Elf Ale). A big beer that goes down easy, Tröegs Nimble Giant is a rich and deep orange 9% ABV Double IPA brimming with grapefruit, pineapple and honeysuckle notes that are offset by a sturdy backbone of pilsner and Vienna malts.
Nimble Giant came up through the brewery’s small-batch Scratch Series, starting with an experiment with Mosaic hops. After about half a dozen test batches, the Tröegs brewing team landed on a hop combination everyone loved – Mosaic, Simcoe and Azacca – and never looked back. “Nimble Giant is perfect for an evening by the fire pit or posted up on your favorite local pub’s barstool,” says Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner. “It’s big, bold, and has a classic West-Coast bitterness.”
Divine Brewing (Dallas, TX) – Lakewood Brewing has a delicious year-round release and 5% of its proceeds will benefit Texas chapters of the Pink Boots Society. Aggressively hopped yet incredibly approachable, Lakewood Goddess Hazy IPA is a juicy 6.7% ABV India Pale Ale a tropical fruit-forward bouquet and soft pallet.
“As a woman in the brewing industry, I have loved helping introduce more women to craft beer – on both sides of the bar,” said Brenda Busch, co-founder of Lakewood Brewing. “We do this in two ways, by tailoring our flavors to appeal to a wide range of both devoted and developing beer drinkers, as well as through organizations like Pink Boots that help support and empower others on their brewing career and educational journeys.”
Worthy Of The Gods (St Paul, MN) – Summit Brewing has introduced a new variation of its classic Sága IPA as part of its Sága Goddess Series. Boasting a soft bitterness worthy of the gods an uber-smooth finish, Summit Sága Hazy IPA is a 7% ABV India Pale Ale with subtle notes of
sourdough and bread crust and bright mango, grapefruit, tangerine and passion fruit aromatics.
“The Sága IPA we know, and love isn’t going anywhere,” says Director of Sales Brandon Bland. “It’s a staple for us and something the community has embraced for the last 10 plus years. Developing the Goddess Series gives us a chance to explore ways to expand on one of our top brands and favorite beers. We believe the Sága Goddess Series allows us to discover new ways to engage with our partners and ultimately our consumers.”
