Summer is ON and American craft brewers are celebrating things with an uber-interesting roster of beers you’re gonna want to chase down.
Squawk Box Returns (San Diego, CA) – Karl Strauss Brewing, San Diego’s first post-prohibition craft brewery which has been cranking out serious beer since 1989, is returning an epic collaboration that they did with City of Orange-based Green Cheek Beer.
Available on tap and in four packs of 16-oz cans at Karl Strauss’ nine brewpubs and Green Cheek’s four tasting rooms in Southern California. Karl Strauss + Green Cheek Squawk Box IPA is a 6.6% ABV Juicy India Pale Ale that was inspired by the citrus groves of Orange County.
“Green Cheek makes incredible beer, and we are stoked to bring this collaboration back to life with them,” said Karl Strauss Brewmaster Paul Segura. “We admire Green Cheek’s commitment to quality and making people smile while enjoying great beer. Brewing Squawk Box together is a celebration of SoCal’s rich craft brewing culture, and we created this tropical IPA to represent both San Diego and Orange County craft lovers.”

And one percent of all of its California sales will be donated to Restaurants Care, a nonprofit fund that supports California restaurant workers facing unexpected hardships. This initiative is part of Karl Strauss’ broader 2025 commitment to support the nonprofit through each of four beers in the Ridiculously Limited Release Series. Karl Strauss’ and Green Cheek’s combined 13 locations employ hundreds of food-and-beverage team members.
An Award-Winner 5 Times Over (Huntington Beach, CA) – Founded in 1978, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, a national chain renowned for its California-style pizza and its award-winning craft beers, has returned something special.
Available nationwide at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, BJ’s Nit Wit White Ale is a light and sessionable 4.7% ABV Belgians-Style Witbier with a lively citrus aroma and smooth wheat character.
And unlike many traditional hefeweizens, Nit Wit skips the banana and clove and leans into zesty orange and subtle spice, making it extra bright and crisp . And with top honors from the Great American Beer Festival and North American Beer Awards, this is a beer that’s definitely worth chasing down.
