We love BrewDog’s rebellious attitude. So much of what they have done over the years is so subversively brilliant that we can’t help but get onboard.
Like when the Scotland-based, and now global craft brewer, made ALL of their most recent brewing recipes available to the world’s homebrewing community.
DIY Dog launched 2016 when BrewDog announced that they’d be making their back catalog of 215 beers available to their homebrewing fans in a downloadable book.
It was the talk of the industry and a huge ‘get’ for the world’s beer community.
A decade in the making, DIY Dog originated from the brewery’s admirable vision to pass on what they’d learned from their years of adventurous brewing to their fans and peers.
In 2018 BrewDog added 89 more recipes to their epic brewbook that became 415 beer recipes in total, just a massive resource!

Described as a thank you to the UK homebrewing community who have supported them ever since James Watt and Martin Dickie started brewing out in Martin’s mother’s garage back in 2005, DIY DOG was audacious in scope and scale…
With its detailed introduction and guide on how to nail your homebrew every time, DIY Dog, which unfortunately no longer available online, was the perfect introduction to the art of homebrewing and a complete BrewDog brewing compendium all in one…just an astounding undertaking.
Each BrewDog recipe came with a tip from their brewers to help you negotiate the sometimes inscrutable art of brewing. You could create an exact copy your BrewDog favorite in your kitchen, in your garage, or wherever.
DIY Dog was the talk of the industry at the time, and an apt reflection of BrewDog’s renegade philosophy…They believed companies that clung to their secrets had it all backwards.
Described by cofounder James Watt, who recently stepped away from his role as CEO, as “the brewing keys to their kingdom” DIY Dog marked a more innocent time for the company and the craft beer industry as a whole.
It was truly a “Great Moment in Brewing” the likes of which will probably never be seen again.
