In spite of the nearly 8000 craft breweries currently online in the US, we continue to receive new announcements almost daily. But unfortunately, we are increasingly hearing about brewery closings as well…
And here’s the good, bad and ugly….
Left Hand Brewing plans for new brewpub location in Denver
Left Hand Brewing, a heritage craft brewer renowned for its Nitro Series of beers, has announced plans to open its second location outside of its Longmont, Colorado headquarters in the heart of Denver’s booming Curtis Park neighborhood.
Expected to open later this summer, Left Hand’s 12,000 sq. ft. Curtis Park location will feature a seven-barrel pilot brewery and 50 tap handles showcasing the brewery’s ample roster of year-round and seasonal offerings, as well as exclusive pilot beers made on site in Denver.
Originally home to Denver’s second-oldest commercial printer, the Golden Bell Press, which dates back to 1934, Left Hand Curtis Park will also feature a full food menu, live music, a large outdoor patio, and private event space for up to 300 people.
“We’ve been considering opening a second location in Denver for a long time but have been waiting to find the right spot. We found it,” said Eric Wallace, President and Co-Founder of Left Hand Brewing…
“The amenities this location offers are really unparalleled in this area. We are slightly off the beaten path but within blocks of the RiNo Art District and Rockies Field. We look forward to integrating ourselves into the neighborhood and building community as we have in Longmont for the past 26 years.”
Projected to open later this summer, Left Hand Curtis Park also will include big screen TVs with local sports packaging, bar games like shuffleboard, pool and foosball, and other community-based activities.

Social Kitchen & Brewery Closes
The craft brewery that invented the Brut IPA in 2018 closed its doors abruptly over the weekend, mirroring the once heralded beer style that was briefly embraced nationally by other craft breweries but never really caught on
Social Kitchen and Brewery took to Facebook on March 6 to announce the brewpub’s imminent closure, citing lease issues….
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I am announcing that this Saturday, March 7th will be the final day of service here at Social Kitchen and Brewery…Ownership and the landlord were unable to agree upon a new lease and we are all suffering right now.”
“Social has been a staple of the SF beer scene for the past 10 years. A place where you could constantly get fresh, unique and high quality beers. THANK YOU so much to everyone whose been rocking with us for the past decade.”
