Budweiser Shows Zero Interest

It’s not the first time that Anheuser-Busch has tested a non-alcoholic Bud, but it is beer news that they might be making moves in this arena again.

Here’s the deal…

If a new beer label submitted to the Alcohol Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) proves true, Budweiser might be addressing that segment again.

, Budweiser Shows Zero Interest

Budweiser Zero is the name of that possibly forthcoming product (not every beer label that goes through that TTB approval process necessarily makes it into production).

Its label, which as you can see is a grayed out take on Bud’s traditional imaging with a red ZERO, asserts that the beer has “Budweiser taste,” which you’d think would be important.

The label also champions the fact that it’s non-alcoholic (it will contain less than 0.5% alcohol by volume), has “zero sugar” (which we thought was an interesting new argument for drinking a non-alcohol beer) and contains 91 calories and 22 grams of carbohydrates.

More text from Budweiser Zero’s label…

“This is America’s genuine non-alcoholic brew. During Prohibition we brewed a non-alcoholic recipe for those who counted on Budweiser taste and quality. A century later, we deliver a fresh take on a classic recipe, with a smoothness and drinkability great for nearly every occasion.”, Budweiser Shows Zero Interest

In 2018 AB InBev announced the creation of a new chief of non-alcoholic beverages officer as a means of boosting its footprint in the non-alcohol sector.

10% of the global brewers total business is already dedicated to non-alcohol brands and the company is projecting that 20% of the world’s beer production volume will move to non-alcoholic or low alcoholic products by 2025.

Earlier this year, Anheuser-Busch introduced Budweiser 0.0 in select US cities as well as in Africa and India. And as Peter Frost correctly points out in his post at Behind the Beer, AB InBev also sells O’Doul’s, Busch NA, St. Pauli Girl NA and Beck’s NA in the US.
