Brewpub Offers Burger With Oven-Roasted Tarantula

|April 18th, 2018|

It’s been kinda quiet on the beer front of late, so we’re running with this. And while we admit this is borderline clickbait…that’s never stopped us in the past.

And besides…sometimes you just can’t make this stuff up.

Bull City Burger & Brewery a Durham, North Carolina brewpub whose staff according to their website never met a meat they wouldn’t eat.” is celebrating Exotic Meat Month this month and they’re pulling out all the stops.

Staying true to its mission the award-winning brewpub is serving up a hamburger in April topped with a crunchy full-grown, oven-roasted tarantula and a side of fries (which we expect will be needed).

But whether or not your burger will come with an exotic tarantula garnish comes down to chance. And we’re kinda amazed that anyone would be invested in eating a big furry spider to begin with. But that’s just us.

Here’s the deal…

According to the Drinks Business adventurous guests are being encouraged to drop by the brewpub to sign up for the pub’s “Tarantula Raffle.”

From there, every day Bull City will select a raffle ticket and post the winning number on its Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.

If your raffle number is drawn, you have 2 days to call the restaurant and speak with a manager, but we suggest you speak to a public health specialist first!

The brewpub’s manager then sets up a booking within a week of the winning foodies to purchase the Tarantula Burger (yep the winner still has to pay for this thing!), made with “pasture-raised NC beef burger, oven-roasted tarantula, and spicy chili sauce, with Dirty Fries.”

Bottom line we suggest that this brewpub stick with its award-winning beers and leave the tarantulas in Death Valley where they’re more comfortable. If you’re looking for a marketing gimmick why not just brew one of these fruit juice infused IPA’s everyone’s releasing this spring?

And like we’ve said increasingly often lately…sometimes you just can’t make this stuff up.
