Beer Run: Barrel-Aged Monsters, Tropical Lagers And Fall Pale Ales!

|October 27th, 2018|

This Halloween weekend’s new releases include timely seasonals and BIG beers…So welcome to our last Beer Run of October …And there’s plenty to like here.

The Ticket To Ride (Norwood, MA) – Castle Island Brewing debuted the latest addition to their rotating series that leans into the season without going the pumpkin ale route… Named after a lyric in a Beastie Boys song, Castle Island Ride n’ Glide is a 6.9% ABV Rye Pale Ale with an autumnal malt backbone that balances things smartly.

Early Stone (Escondido, CA) – Stone Brewing will be introducing a new addition to its year-round lineup in 2019, but it’s making a sneak debut in California and Stone Brewing Tap Rooms this week. And amazingly, at least for Stone, it’s a lager. Super flavorful and yet uber-crushable, Stone Tropic of Thunder Lager is a 5.8% ABV refresher, tempered with Mosaic, Citra, and Cashmere hops.

Get Powdered (Seattle, WA) – Pyramid Brewing is welcoming in fall with an aggressive IPA brewed using CRYO-Hops, concentrated lupulin powder derived from whole-leaf hops!  Pyramid Yeah Baby! Is a 6.5% ABV CRYO- Hop India Pale Ale…that’s taking hop technology into a brave new world of brewing.

Taking A Monster Stout To The Next Level Of Decadence (Longmont, CO) – On November 3rd Oskar Blues will be unleashing a MONSTER. Making its 2018 return just in time cold weather and bonfires, Oskar Blues Barrel-Aged Ten Fidy Imperial Stout is a pitch black 12.9% ABV behemoth that takes decadence to the next level…not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Having Seconds (Atlanta, GA) – Second Self Beer Company is returning a fall seasonal with an even more complex recipe for 2018. A spruce beer inspired by gin, Second Self Junipa is a 6.4% ABV designer ale  brewed with Amarillo and Cascade hops, spruce tips, juniper, and rosemary, and then dry-hopped with aromatics mirroring the classic flavors of gin. Whew!
