Beer Rumor Mill – Budweiser Goes Limited Release, New Holland Brewing Strikes And More!
The seasons are just blowing by…and the craft beer biz is only accelerating. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in into all the beer news and lifestyle that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you don’t want to miss that.
Budweiser Celebrates Its Own Resurrection (New York, NY) – Budweiser, whose market share continues to struggle in the US, is shipping a rare limited release for the Fall/Winter season that’s both a homage to their past and a celebration of Prohibition’s demise.
Budweiser’s 1933 Repeal Reserve Amber Lager is retro all the way from it’s vintage stubby bottle to its label design…It’s described as an Amber Lager (maltier rather than crisp) and it is a relatively strong brew at 6.1% ABV for a company that traditionally keep their beers in the 5% range.
Based on a pre-Prohibition era recipe that the legendary Adolphus Busch created and brewed in St Louis for his friends and the local community to enjoy, Budweiser’s Repeal Reserve is a rare departure for the global giant, who change up the names of their beers more often than they introduce new recipes.
Words To Drink By (Princeton, NJ) – “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Albert Einstein, theoretical physicist
New Holland Strikes (Holland, MI) – Michigan’s New Holland Brewing, a company with more than 400 employees and a distribution footprint which spans 38 states and four countries, has announced the big-time appointment of Tom Stryker as Director of Brewery Operations. Interestingly enough Stryker comes to New Holland via Blue Medora, a Michigan software firm where he served a VP of Business Development. We wish Mr. Stryker all the success in the world….now please send us beer.
What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (San Clemente, CA) – Last night we hit up something new from Stone Brewing that’s fruit-forward but not unbearably fruity. A fall farewell to summer’s passing, Stone Vengeful Spirit IPA is a 7.3% ABV unfiltered India Pale Ale brewed with Pineapple & Mandarin orange, as well as five different citrusy hop varieties.
