Shane Gillis’ latest Bud Light spot may be the funniest beer ad so far this year. Weve that, “Words to Drink By” and more.

Funniest Beer Ad of 2024

In August Bud Light kicked off college football season with a new campaign starring Shane Gillis, who was announced as a new cast member on Saturday Night Live in 2019, before content from his  podcast came to light that led to an Asian American backlash and his short-lived association with NBC’s sketch comedy series.

He’s currently the star of Tires on Netflix, and also the star of Bud Light’s latest beer ad which is hilarious. The spot which is titled “Wrong Commercial” opens to a dramatic black and white scene with a sexy model, a serious voiceover, reminiscent of a classic perfume commercial.

Things only gets weirder as the camera pans out to see him on a couch next to the model who now has a menacing looking snake draped around her neck and a thrash metal musician behind him. When Shane calls out that he must be in the wrong commercial, the director said he was mistakenly switched with an actor named Andre. The spot then cuts to Andre having a great time drinking Bud Light, eating wings and watching football games in a crowded bar with Texas Longhorn fans.

Words to Drink By

“I knew that if I failed I wouldn’t regret that, but I knew the one thing I might regret is not trying.” —Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO

Beloved Brewery Cat Beats Cancer

Horatio is the beloved “assistant manager” cat who has been part of Seventh Son Brewing’s team of almost 11 years. So it was a shock to learn that he had cancer.

Following a heartfelt fundraiser hosted by the brewery, support from far and wide brought in enough to cover Horatio’s  19 radiation treatments and nearly US$10,000 more which the brewery donated to pet-related charities.

Seventh Son co-founder Collin Castore said after the surgery: “Thank you to everyone who’s supported us so far, and he’s doing great. He’s a happy guy.”

According to local reports via NBC4 TV, Horatio is back in action, manning pest control at the Columbus, Ohio-based craft brewery, with a full recovery expected.

In a show of gratitude, Horatio “announced” his return via Instagram this Instagram post…

“Guess what? I’m back. I’m (re)exploring my old stomping grounds and making sure everything is where I last remembered. So far, so good. It’s great to see my coworkers again, too. They’re looking after me and making sure I’m doing well.”
