Forget the “Cocaine Bear,” there’s now a “Cocaine Beer.”  We’ve that, the growth of US beer spas, “Words to Drink By” and more.

Beer Spas Now Big Business in US

We’ve written about beer spas in exotic places like Iceland and the Czech Republic, but now the US is home to several and they are raking in big bucks. And while beers spa’ are more of a wellness center where you can soak in hot steaming hop and barley baths than a taproom, some share that artisan vibe and a couple even serve beer.

“The first US beer spa actually opened in 2016 in Sisters, Oregon, according to New Atlas “which in hindsight might have been a few years ahead of its time as it’s since shut down. But like a bubbly, frothy phoenix rising, new treatment houses have sprung up across the country, including My Beer Spa in Orlando, Piva Beer Spa in Chicago, Oakwell Beer Spa in Denver and the tap room-spa mashup of Bierbath in Sykesville, Maryland.”

Words to Drink By

“I think it is possible for ordinary people to choose to be extraordinary.” – Elon Musk, South African businessman and investor

Cocaine Beer

Bolivia the world’s third-biggest producer of the coca leaf and of cocaine is now home to a new innovation, a coca beer. And while we understand that calling it an “cocaine beer” is a stretch, coca is the main ingredient in cocaine, and its leaves have been celebrated by locals for their caffeine like qualities when chewed.

La Paz’s El Viejo Roble Distillery, which already makes coca rum and vodka products has launched a coca-infused brew set to hit the market at only $2 a bottle.

Getting this beer to global markets may prove challenging” reports Gzero. “Although coca-leaf products are legal and crucial to the Bolivian economy, these products are not in many other countries owing to their UN narcotic classification.”
