Anheuser-Busch Embraces “Beer Grown Here”
On March, 19, 2024, the American Farmland Trust, a national nonprofit that helps to keep American farmers on their land, launched a new US Farmed certification and packaging seal for products that derive at least 95 percent of their agricultural ingredients from farms in the United States.
And Anheuser-Busch, the nation’s leading brewer, was the first-mover in adopting the U.S. Farmed certification and seal for several of its industry-leading beer brands.
Aimed at transforming the way consumers identify and shop for domestically sourced products, the seal now appears on its most popular beers including Busch Light, Budweiser, Bud Light and Michelob ULTRA.
This industry-wide effort is being supported by an Anheuser-Busch’s “Choose Beer Grown Here,” campaign to encourage consumers to seek the U.S. Farmed certification and seal when shopping for products.
“American farmers are the backbone of this country, and Anheuser-Busch has been deeply connected to the U.S. agricultural community and committed to sourcing high-quality ingredients from U.S. farmers for more than 165 years,” said Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth.
Each year, the company purchases over $700 million in high-quality brewing ingredients, from US 700 grower-partners. This includes 99% of the barley and 100% of the rice and corn used in its family of beers.

New Michigan Beer Protects A Historic Great Lakes Fish
Saugatuck Brewing Company has once again partnered with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and released a special beer to raise funding for lake sturgeon habitat restoration efforts across the state.
Saugatuck Lake Street Light is the new lager that was inspired by the state’s lakes and waterways and a portion of its profits will fund the Lake Street Light x Lake Sturgeon Program starting in April 2025.
“To say that lake sturgeon are a major part of Michigan’s aquatic history doesn’t quite do them justice,” said Patrick Ertel, with the Habitat Management Unit of the DNR’s Fisheries Division. “These fish have been around for more than 100 million years, which may be hard to even comprehend.
“In terms of more recent generations, there are individual sturgeon in our waters today that are older than anyone reading about this partnership. Some lake sturgeon currently in Michigan waters have been there since before the invention of the automobile.”
