Anheuser-Busch is continuing to take heat over its association with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. We’ve that, “Words to Drink By” and more.

Bud Light CEO Tells Customers “We Hear You”

Bud Light is continuing to face a backlash following its partnership with Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender influencer whose image was put on a Bud Light beer can to celebrate “365 Days of Girlhood.”

The initial Dylan Mulvaney announcement took place on April 1 (ironically April Fool’s Day) and in spite of Anheuser-Busch’s desperate efforts to put the matter to bed the brand has been experiencing serious sales declines ever since then.

In an effort to put remedy this volatile situation, Anheuser-Busch CEO, Brendan Whitworth, released this carefully worded statement that apologizes to everyone while offering economic support to sales partners…

We recognize that over the last two months, the discussion surrounding our company and Bud Light has moved away from beer, and this has impacted our consumers, our business partners, and our employees.

We are a beer company, and beer is for everyone.

Today, we are announcing three important actions as we continue to move our business forward.

First, we are investing to protect the jobs of our frontline employees.

Second, we are providing financial assistance to our independent wholesalers to help them support their employees.

Third, to all our valued consumers, we hear you. Our summer advertising launches next week, and you can look forward to Bud Light reinforcing what you’ve always loved about our brand – that it’s easy to drink and easy to enjoy.

As we move forward, we will focus on what we do best – brewing great beer and earning our place in moments that matter to you.

Here’s to a future with more cheers.

Brendan Whitworth

Words to Drink By

“People think my life has been tough, but I think has been a wonderful journey. The older you get, the more you realize it’s not what happens, but how you deal with it.” – Tina Turner (1939 – 2023)

NY Brewery to Brew Guinness Baltimore Blonde Beer

The F.X. Matt brewery in Utica has acquired the rights to produce Guinness Blonde, a beer that has been brewed at Guinness’ Baltimore brewery for the past decade. On April 3 Guinness owner Diageo announced that it would be closing the Guinness production brewery in Halethorpe, Maryland this summer, a facility that opened just three years ago in 2020.

It’s the second big beer industry deal this year for the Utica brewery (home to the Saranac beer family) both involving Maryland breweries. In May, FX Matt announced it had purchased Frederick, MD-based Flying Dog Brewery (Maryland’s largest craft brewery) and would be moving all production of its beers to Utica, NY this summer. As is usual with these kinds of deals financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
