Constellation Brands staff celebrate stong 3rd quarter earnings

Investors High On Constellation Brands (Victor, NY) – Expectations were high heading into Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ) fiscal third-quarter announcement last week. The beverage giant (and now pot industry participant) had performed exceptionally well of late, especially its premium imported beer division where beers like Modelo Especial, Corona Extra, Modelo and Pacifico continue to kick ass.

Beer sales buoyed Constellation’s overall earnings report. Net sales for the company’s overall beer segment, which in addition to their Mexican import labels, also includes crafty properties like Ballast Point and Funky Buddha increased 7.8 percent for the quarter, ending November 30th.

Constellation’s wine and spirit sales were flat primarily due to the divestment of the company’s Canadian wine business. Profitability slipped as the company increased marketing support for some of its brands, but that extra spending did keep the division on track for 5% growth in fiscal 2018.
