Beer Buzz: Anheuser-Busch Gets Wild, Upslope Brewing, Bill Coors And More!
Yikes, its mid-October already…and clearly the craft beer biz isn’t slowing down any time soon. But no worries, the Beer Buzz is always on the case, keeping you up on all the beer news, entertainment and lifestyle that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you don’t want to miss that!
Is Anheuser-Busch Planning New Light Beer And Introducing A New Brand? (Fort Collins, CO) Well something’s up because the brewery received federal approval last week from the TTB, so maybe this is a one-off or maybe they’re actually introducing a new lager under craft-like banner similar to the way MillerCoors positions their Blue Moon brand.
Wild Peak, at least according to the TTB approved label, is a 3.5% ABV golden lager that’s extra smooth and “Brewed in the Colorado Rockies.” And from its outdoor name to its 93 calories the lager clearly appears to be targeted at health conscious consumers.
And the fact that the Wild Peak label also boasts it donates “1% of proceeds to the National Fish and Wildlife Association” seems to further reinforce its healthy outdoor positioning.
Keep in mind that many TTB approved labels NEVER come to fruition, so maybe Wild Peak won’t ever enter the marketplace…But still the fact that Anheuser-Busch put it out there can’t help but be intriguing.

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Boulder, CO) – Last night we tapped a special Lee Hill Series release from Upslope Brewing that was inspired by a classic New Orleans cocktail. Brewed with honey and aged to perfection in absinthe and Maryland rye whiskey barrels, Upslope Sazerac Style Rye Ale is a 1o.8% ABV exotic with botanical top notes of fennel and a honey sweet finish.
