April is just flying by and American craft brewers are welcoming the warmer weather with a fun roster of new beers that you’re gonna want to have around as things warm up.
Camp Coldie (Bend, Oregon) – !0 Barrel Brewing has a new addition to its Hopburst family of Northwest IPAs, that hits that sweet for those looking for full-bodied flavor without the alcohol overload that sometimes comes with a West Coast-Style India Pale Ale. Light orange color and bursting with citrus, tropical mango and stone fruit notes, 10 Barrel Scout Camp Coldie is an impressively full-flavored 5% ABV India Pale that’s uber-approachable yet drinks like the big boys.
Since it launched last month, 10 Barrel’s newest year-round has been a resoundingly success, filling a void for those who appreciate full body and a light buzz, but prefer less commitment than your typical 7 to 9%-ABV IPA.
A collaboration between 10 Barrel and Scout Campers, as the beer’s name suggests, Camp Coldie is an adventure-minded ale best enjoyed around camp after a long day on the road. It’s also the reason for the Scout Camper Giveaway that’s currently underway. And in celebration of its release Scout and 10 Barrel are giving away a $25K credit plus a cash prize toward the Scout Camper of your dreams.

Three Floyds Sees The Light (Munster, IN) – Three Floyds Brewing, a brewery renowned for the big hoppy IPAs and bold Imperial Stouts is stepping “beyond the craft beer category” with a more traditional style of lager. Brewed with Indiana corn grits, and they do grow a lot of corn out that way, Floyd’s Deluxe 4.5% ABV “lighter-style premium lager” that checks all the crisp, clean and refreshing boxes.
“When we began to develop Floyds Deluxe, we weren’t making a craft lager – we were creating an American lighter-style lager,” said Cory Just, Three Floyds’ Marketing Director. “While that distinction might seem subtle, it’s a critical point of differentiation reflected in every aspect of this brand, including its packaging. Unlike our usual maximalist approach, this isn’t an intensely hopped-up brew. It’s a light, clean, and exceptionally well-crafted beer, carefully lagered for 8 weeks.”
Have Your “Best Day” (California) – Non-Alcoholic beers have come a long way since your uncle used to order an O’Doul’s. And there’s a Northern California brewery, Best Day Brewing, which makes a great Kölsch that just happens to be non-alcoholic.
Brewed using a smart combination of Cologne and Pilsner malts and Hallertau Traditional hops, Best Day Kölsch is a crisp and perfectly balanced refresher that comes with a nice toasty malt character but won’t leave you buzzed.
