October is waning with winter to come, and American craft brewers are addressing the changing seasons with more exciting offerings you’re gonna want have around.
Black Tuesday Is ON! (Orange County, CA) – On October 26 The Bruery is hosting the bi-coastal release of Black Tuesday (California and DC), its most infamous and highly anticipated beer.
Carefully brewed and aged in choice bourbon barrels for over a year, developing complexity and beautifully refined flavors, Black Tuesday 2021 is a massive and dangerously decadent 18.9% ABV Imperial Stout with a rich fusion of crème brûlée, dark chocolate and poached fig notes, interlaced with hints of malted milk balls.
The complexity and strength of any Black Tuesday is legend. It lends itself to aging when properly stored, and tasting this year’s vintage next to previous releases is always a fun beer experience.

Iconic (Chico, CA) – Sierra Nevada Brewing is returning a fall/winter legend and if it’s not out there now, it will be soon.
Each year for hop harvest season, (typically August through September), Sierra Nevada brewers travel to the Pacific Northwest to select the most premium lots of Cascade and Centennial hops to be featured in this celebrated annual release. The premium picks are kiln-dried and transported to the brewery as soon as possible so the brewers can begin production of the beer right away to capture the citrus, pine, and floral notes when they’re at their absolute peak.
Now in its 40th year, Sierra Nevada 2021 Celebration Fresh Hop IPA is a 6.8% ABV India Pale Ale…one of a very few hop-forward holiday beers. And because it’s a fresh-hop IPA it’s subtly different every year.
A Taste For Speed (San Diego, CA) – AleSmith Brewing has released its third-quarter Speedway Stout variation and as usual it’s impeccably crafted and brewed to perfection. Taking its lead from the flavors and tones of Mexico, Speedway Stout Variant #3: Mexican Dark Chocolate, Sea Salt and Mexican Coffee is a 12% ABV “take” on its classic stout, a beer already renowned for its rich chocolate and roasted malts reinforced by subtle notes of toffee and caramel.
