The Brewers Association have announced a new beer garden addition to the 2018 Great American Beer Festival that promises to be too much fun.

One of the world’s largest and most popular beer gatherings the Great American Beer Festival (GABF), which is returning to Denver this September 20th -22nd, is upping the ante on barrel-aged beers bigtime…and introducing a special beer garden dedicated to the high-octane tradition.
Part of the GABF’s nearly 100,000 square foot festival floor expansion this year, the Jameson Caskmates Barrel-Aged Beer Garden will showcase 17 small and independent Jameson craft brewery partners and their limited-edition barrel-aged beers in a setting that draws inspiration from each brewery’s unique neighborhoods.
Participating breweries at this year’s 12,600 square foot craft beer garden include 8th Wonder, Bale Breaker, Big Dog’s Brewing Co, Black Abbey, Captain Lawrence, Cigar City, DC Brau, Fat Heads, Foolproof, Fulton, Great Divide, Green Flash, Harpoon, Heavy Seas, Parish, Revolution and River Horse. So you know it’s going to be a killer outpost in a sea of serious beer.
Brewers have long used whiskey barrels to age their beers and sales of barrel-aged beer have increased by 20 percent over the past three years.
As part of the Jameson Caskmates Program, Jameson has been sending American craft breweries used barrels from their distillery in County Cork, Ireland.
And those breweries have been doing amazing things with them in their individual cities and crafting barrel-aged variations of their beers that have become legends in their own communities.
“For nearly four decades, GABF has served as a platform for brewers to showcase unique brewing techniques and for beer lovers to expand their horizons and intrigue their palates,” said Ann Obenchain, marketing director, Brewers Association.
“The Jameson Caskmates Program offers a natural extension to craft beer and this new beer garden at GABF provides an exciting setting to satiate the thirst for barrel-aged beers.”
