Even though Budweiser didn’t get its own ad at this year’s Super Bowl, it did get exposed as part of a truly moving ad that celebrates beer as something that can unite us, especially in difficult times.

Here’s the deal…

Super Bowl beer ads get a lot of attention. After all Anheuser-Busch, which has exclusive rights to all the national beer advertising at the big game, spends millions every season to showcase its brands.

It debuted its first Anheuser-Busch Super Bowl ad ever. Not an individual spot for beers such as Bud Light or Michelob Ultra (although there were those), but a commercial that looked to its family of brands and very human moments celebrated over beer.

Moments like sharing a beer with a friend who’s just lost his job, a bride and groom toasting each other as a downpour empties seats at their wedding.

It was not only good, it was brilliant. And there are a number of reasons why it was so well done.

Academy Award nominee David Fincher who directed movies like Se7en, Zodiac, Fight Club, and Gone Girl, is the producer behind Let’s Grab a Beer, a 90-second collection of life’s moments (good and bad)…musicians, culinary workers, laid-off employees, and everyone in between finding ways to wind down over a beer.

According to Men’s Health Fincher re-teamed with half of his Gone Girl, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network musical team (Atticus Ross- Nine Inch Nails) for an original composition that just makes the whole thing flow.

Crisply edited Let’s Grab a Beer positions beer as a something that can unite us all.

And if there were Oscar awards for best Super Bowl commercials, it would clearly have our vote.
