On March 15 Anheuser-Busch, the country’s biggest brewer, announced that it would soon be streaming Not A Sports Show, a free sports-talk series.
Hosted by actor, comedian and writer Lil Rel Howery, Not A Sports Show, will feature Howery (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), interviewing current and former professional athletes in a casual setting.
The Anheuser-Busch funded streaming series will not be interrupted with beer ads, but the host and his guests will be discussing the sports world in a bar filled with dozens of A-B beverages, and the visiting sports icons might even enjoy a beer or two as their conversation progresses.
The show’s first episode will be a two-part interview with former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce, followed by the release of new episodes every Thursday through April.
Guest stars include:
- Chiney Ogwumike: Los Angeles Sparks WNBA player and first Black female ESPN host
- Joc Pederson: MLB All-Star and World Series champion
- Kenny Smith: 2x NBA champion and Inside the NBA analyst

According the brewery the “Not A Sports Show” platform is geared to give 21+ fans a dose of entertainment and Anheuser Busch brands like Budweiser and Michelob Ultra organic and natural exposure
“One of the key pillars of our consumer-centric marketing strategy is to make our brand connections relevant to people, rather than focusing on visibility alone,” Marcel Marcondes, CMO, Anheuser-Busch expalined.
According to Variety this isn’t Anheuser-Busch’s first foray into steaming…
“In 2007, Anheuser launched a venture it called Bud.TV, a hub for streaming content that included comedy, sports, news, short films, and original programming. By 2009, however, it shuttered the venture.”
Known for its attention-grabbing advertising campaigns and Super Bowl spots, Anheuser-Busch worked with Panay Films to develop and produce Not A Sports Show in association with Stampede.
The new series is slated to debut March 25, with new episodes surfacing Thursdays in April.
