So many beers, So little time…With so many craft breweries, releasing so many beers, we thought it might help to provide a weekly update on all the new beers that are hitting the streets…So welcome to this week’s edition of Newbies – your guide to great new craft beer releases!

Half Acre Brews a Beer that Hates Astronauts (Chicago, IL) – God Hates Astronauts is the name of artist Ryan Browne’s paradigm-shifting superhero comic book. Half Acre Beer Company’s newest release, Beer Hates Astronauts, was conceived to pay homage to what they refer to as “the world’s most questionable comic book.” It’s also a 7% ABV India Pale Ale brewed with Vienna malt, Citra hops, and more than a little attitude. You can get it tomorrow, August 30th in 22 oz. bombers at the brewery or you can buy it by the glass in their Tap Room.

Not So Hot Stuff! (Denver, CO) – The latest in Wynkoop Brewing’s Even Smaller Batch series will soon be rolling out in canned four-packs. A longtime Wynkoop favorite, Patty’s Chile Beer is a unique 4.2% ABV golden ale spiced with green chile flavors and aromas, but minus the heat. Patty’s Chile was a creation of Wynkoop’s original brewer, Russell Schehrer. It’s also one of the craft beer movement’s first chile beers and a 2006 Great American Beer Festival bronze medal winner.

Get Ready to Take a Bullet (San Diego, CA) – The latest addition to Green Flash Brewing Company’s national portfolio will go nationwide in September. Green Flash Green Bullet is their triple IPA that was named after the New Zealand hop variety that they used to brew it. And be forewarned, at 10.1% ABV, this beer’s aggressive!

Four Different Saisons at Harpoon (Boston, MA) – The Harpoon Brewery has released the 47th installment of the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series and it sounds interesting. Saison Various is a complex golden ale that is actually a blend of four different Saisons brewed individually by four different Harpoon brewers. Harpoon’s 6.1% ABV Saison Various is now available in 22 oz. bottles with limited draft availability.

Rumpkin Returns (Boulder, CO) – The Avery Brewing Company will be unleashing the monstrous aged pumpkin ale in September, so be ready. Avery Rumpkin is an ale brewed with pumpkin and spices and aged in rum barrels. Its release will be celebrated with a special party at their Tap Room on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 5 PM. Know that there’s a one-case-per-person limit on this very special release…so you’ll have to show a little restraint for a change.

Octoberfest Time at Dominion (Dover, DE) – The Dominion Brewing Company’s award-winning seasonal is currently hitting the shelves and we’re happy that it is. Dominion Octoberfest is their 6% ABV amber lager that’s brewed in the style of a traditional German Märzen. It took bronze at last year’s GABF competition in Denver and you can find it in six-packs and on draft.
