The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – March 14, 2014
Hey it’s Friday and work’s been brutal and the weather not much better – so you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, music, and cutting-edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. We’ve also a Weekend Beer Pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking.
So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

On the Big Screen – The current movie-release calendar feels a bit like summer with all the Legos, vampires, and Robocop movies vying for your attention, and now you can add this video-game adaptation and potential franchise-starter into the mix. Need for Speed stars Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul as a street racer fresh from prison who is framed by a wealthy business associate and joins a cross country race with revenge in mind. We understand that this all sounds like something we may have seen one time too many – but it could be diverting and the trailer we saw was awesome.

Big Fun In The Valley of the Sun (Phoenix, AZ) – With the Northeast and the upper Midwest still reeling from winter’s last throes, we can’t think of a better place to be than soaking up the sounds at this weekend’s Liquid Sol Music Festival. It all takes place this Saturday (3/15) outside the Sportsman’s Park stadium. This year’s fest will include performances byTrain, The All-American Rejects, Blind Melon, BoDeans, Buckcherry, Cracker, Ed Kowalczyk, Everclear, Fuel, Gin Blossoms, The White Buffalo, Tonic and Vertical Horizon so you don’t want to miss it. There’s also going to be a special Craft Beer Pavilion with its own music stage -so that doesn’t suck either. For ticket info and onstage times and updates, check out: Liquid Sol 2014

SweetWater Brewing is celebrating an anniversary and they’ve brewed up something special for it. Their 17th Anniversary Ale is a big, complex farmhouse style Saison that’s initially fermented with French Saison yeast, and then run through a secondary fermentation using Brettanomyces Bruxellensis – a powerful strain of yeast responsible for the brew’s big 9% ABV.
