We’ll get into that massive undertaking and on to other things that are breaking right now in the world of craft beer. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately.

Free Beer & Cuisine Course Now Available (Boulder, CO) – The Brewers Association just introduced a free online craft beer & food curriculum that was co-authored by Chef Adam Dulye. The 60-page digital manual is free to download on CraftBeer.com and is constructed as a five-day course that offers an introduction to craft beer, advice on pairing beer with food, and how to pour and present beer at the table.

PGA Pros Get Into The Beer Game (Hobe Sound, FL) – Three pro golfers have teamed up with the help of Florida contract brewer The Brew Hub to create a line of new craft beers targeting golfers. Golf Tour Pros Graeme McDowell, Keegan Bradley, and Freddie Jacobson have formed GolfBeer Brewing with the goal of bringing artisan beer to their fans and making the 19^th hole a craftier place to drink.

New Beer DNA App Coming (Wilmington, NC) – George Taylor and Stephen Pond have been scouring the country, attempting to get their hands on every kind of beer sold in the United States, to help create an app that can reproduce a beer’s DNA so its users can find beers that compare favorably to their preferences. The “Glass Life” app hopes to add 40,000 different beers to their initial database. KomoNews.com is reporting that it will let users build a personal taste profile and direct them to similar beers they might enjoy.

Get Shipwrecked for a Price (Finland) – You may have heard about the 170-year-old beer that was recovered from a sunken boat in the Aland archipelago between Finland and Sweden. According to UK’s Daily Mail, scientists at “University of Leuven’s Brewing Technology Research Group were then asked to study and reconstruct the beer.” And now the Finnish brewery Stallhagen has reproduced that beer from 1872 – and they are selling 1,700 bottles of it – but if you want one, it’s going to cost you. Bottles of the replicated find are reportedly going for $145 each.

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all of the American craft breweries who have shared their wares with us in the past and those of you who have shipped us beer from time to time. It’s great to be able to sample the brews that we write about and it helps us have a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night, we capped open the latest Oktoberfest beer that we’d recently received from Gordon Biersch. Festbier is their autumn seasonal and it pairs excellently with falling leaves and temperatures. At 5.5% ABV, this Oktoberfest beer is lighter than their Märzen – but way more robust – and it’s hoppier too!
