Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For

So many beers, So little time…Port Brewing and Lost Abbey have spent close to a decade building two distinct brands and soon they’ll be launching an entirely new line. We’ve more on that for you, plus we’ve some exciting new beers from Cigar City and Upslope Brewing that you’ll need to chase down.

Paying Tribute to Bacchus (Oxford, CT) – We were talking yesterday with Tyler Jones, the Head Brewer at Black Hog Brewing Company , and he was stoked about a serious new draft-only release they’re now rolling out. Black Hog Bacchanalian Barleywine is a 10.5% orgy of American and British malts dedicated to the God of drink, revelry, and frenzy – and it’s unapologetic about its intentions.

Cigar City’s Got Game (Tampa, FL) – Cigar City Brewing has a November release that was brewed in honor of the popular (and rigged) Bolita games played in Tampa’s Ybor City neighborhood. Bolita Double Nut Brown Ale is a caramel and toffee 9% ABV Brown Ale with a long nutty finish. And there may still be some out there – but you need to act fast.

Export Action at Upslope (Boulder, CO) – Beginning December 15, Upslope Brewing will be returning a popular winter limited release. Originally brewed in 2009, Upslope Foreign Style Stout is a 6.9% ABV cold-weather warmer that’s brewed using Irish ale yeast, massive amounts of roasted barley, and the brewery’s signature Patagonian hops.

Tomme Arthur & Crew Launch a New Line (San Marcos, CA) – After dedicating the past eight years building two distinctive brands, Port Brewing and The Lost Abbey will be introducing a third line of beers to the portfolio for 2015. Branded as The Hop Concept Brewing, the first beers released will be part of The Hop Freshener Series. This series aims to tell a different story about their beer – and focus on each beer’s essence, its flavors, and aromas. A new beer will be released quarterly: Dank and Sticky IPA (February), Citrus and Piney IPA (May), Lemon and Grassy IPA (August), and Tropical and Juicy IPA (November). Each beer will be an exploration into different hop combinations, including the use of a few experimental hops that are new even to the brewers. Sounds promising!
