Winter’s coming and American craft brewers are addressing the cooling season with an intriguing roster of new beers you’re gonna want to have around as the nights get longer.

Darkness Done Right (Brooklyn, NY) – Brooklyn Brewery has returned something special a collaboration that again unites the craft beer pioneer with an esteemed bourbon icon, Kentucky-based Four Roses Distillery, a collaboration that began in 2019 and continues to flourish, thanks to the camaraderie between Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver, and Four Roses COO Ryan Ashley.

Aged for 3 months in Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon casks specially-chosen by Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliott, Brooklyn Black Ops is a 12.4% ABV Imperial Stout with dark cocoa nibs, milk chocolate, and vanilla-forward oak tones, accented by subtle notes of caramelized sugar and bourbon sweetness

“I’m going to say that Black Ops 2025 might be our best Ops release yet,” says Brooklyn Brewery’s James Beard Award-winning Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver. “All the flavors are punchy, sleek, racy and so well-integrated and smooth that the 12.4% ABV is a bit sneaky. This is a ‘stout-drinker’s stout’ full of clean roast flavor and beautiful bourbon notes – I’m loving it after dinner and with desserts.”

“It’s always a pleasure to revisit this collaboration and search for the exact Four Roses barrels that will best complement the incredible beer Brooklyn Brewery creates,” said Brent Elliott, Four Roses Master Distiller. “This partnership allows me to think a bit differently — to explore how our bourbon can take on a new life while still delivering the balance and nuance Four Roses fans expect. It hits all the right notes for our loyal bourbon drinkers, yet offers a flavor profile that’s entirely its own.”

Epic Drinking (Waitsfield, VT) – Lawson’s Finest Liquids’ lineup of 19.2 oz. brews is getting a big update with the addition of something EPIC!

Crafted for celebrating epic snow adventures or  just enjoying a campfire with friends Lawson’s Epic Sip is a massive 9.5% ABV India Pale Ale briming with lush tropical fruit notes that are offset by an uber-sturdy malt backbone. And like every Lawson’s beer it’s cold-shipped & cold-shelved to ensure its freshness. As a winter seasonal Epic Sip it is not as widely distributed as the brewery’s classic Sip of Sunshine, this is an IPA for the ages, and we predict that it soon will be.

Founded by Sean and Karen Lawson, Lawson’s is home to the renowned Sunshine family of IPAs. Beginning as a home-based 1-barrel nanobrewery in 2008, Lawson’s Finest expanded production capacity in 2011 and 2014, growing to include distribution across 12 states.
