August is ON and brewers are celebrating the “dog days of summer” with a roster of beers that suit the season.
East Coasting (Milton, DE) – Dogfish Head Craft Brewery has teamed up with The Qualified Captain, a coastal boating gear legend, on a new limited release that’s a seafarer’s dream.
Brewed with North Carolina-grown ingredients to pay homage to The Qualified Captain’s home state Dogfish Head x Qualified Captain is crisp and refreshing 5.3 % ABV American Pilsner that’s the perfect après-cruise beer for dockside sipping. A regional release, this citrusy Pilsner is currently available at all Dogfish locations as well as at select retailers, up and down the mid-Atlantic.
“The Qualified Cast Ashore not only celebrates Dogfish Head’s coastal roots but speaks to The Qualified Captain’s commitment to maritime heritage,” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head Founder & Brewer. “This collaboration came out of our shared love for the ocean, drinking good beer and telling great stories. It’s brewed for those who appreciate good company, simple moments by the water, and a cold drink at the end of the day.”
And while they were at it. They also debuted, a solid suite of limited-edition Dogfish Head x The Qualified Captain gear — a sun shirt, hat, boat flag and more — inspired by both brands’ connections to coast.

Reinheitsgebot Done Right (Munich, Germany) – Hofbräu München, a benchmark of centuries-old brewing tradition, has announced the US debut of its celebrated Hofbräuhaus Helles Lager. The iconic brew is now available in uber-unique 16.9 oz cans (“or as the Germans say, 0.5 Liter Dosen”) featuring a retro design inspired by the brewery’s labels from the 1950s
Brewed in Munich and according to the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516, Hofbräuhaus Helles Lager is a golden hued 5.1% ABV Lager with a balanced profile, a subtle hoppiness, and a gentle acidity.
The name pays tribute to the brewery’s Munich origins, while the retro-style cans honor the era when Helles Lager became synonymous with the city’s beer culture. The design features one of Munich’s oldest registered trademarks, dating back to 1879.
